If the ground at Aintree today was soft or heavy, then AT FISHERS CROSS would be odds-on to win the Sefton Novices’ Hurdle. Currently described as good, good to soft in places though, he is widely available to back at 6/4. That represents good value for a horse who has already won at Grade 1 level, with an impressive victory in the Albert Bartlett last time out. That took his record over hurdles to five wins from seven starts. There is no evidence to suggest he won’t act on the better ground; he simply hasn’t yet raced on it. His sire has a 10% strike rate with his runners on good ground and 14% strike rate with his runners on good to soft, which is very similar to that of his runners on heavy (11%) and soft (14%).
AT FISHERS CROSS; 1 point win bet at 6/4 (General).
